The palm kernel cake (PKC) that is high in protein and fats content is mainly used as one of the main components for feedmeal formulation for the ruminant industry. The use of PKC as part of feedmeal formulation for the non-ruminant and poultry industry is limited due to its high fiber content (Wan Zahari & Alimon, 2004). It is recommended that the PKC component for poultry feedmeal formulation be capped at 15 to 25%. Additionally, the dirt and shell content needs to be reduced to below 7%. This could be done by removal of most of the shell and dirt present in palm kernel before the extraction process.
